Harrogate Town crashed out of the FA Cup at the 2nd Qualifying stage following a 2-1 replay defeat to Evo-Stick Premier side Frickley Athletic.
In a carbon copy start to the first game, Harrogate dominated the opening exchanges and it was Adam Billard that was to busier of the two keepers.
Frickley did have chances however and Town were relieved to see Liam Darville put a James Ashmore free-kick safely out of play.
Town’s two wingers Lee Elam and Peter Bore were starting to enjoy plenty of the ball and a deep cross from Lee Elam was narrowly missed by Will Turl.
On the stroke of half time, the Town faithful watched in horror as a Pete Bore shot flew just wide when it had looked on target all the way.
Harrogate made a nervous start to the second half and for the first time, Frickley got a foot hold in the game.
James Ashmore had another good chance for the visitors when he shot wide after good work in the box.
The first goal arrived in the 54th minute when Ian Ross set up Lee Elam to score from six yards out.
Town looked to up the tempo and grab that all important second and again both wingers were having plenty of space but no-one could connect with the final ball.
Frickley’s equaliser arrived from a corner which Will Turl, under pressure from Brad Grayson headed into his own net.
On the up now, Frickley enjoyed probably their best spell of the match and Zac Jones got down well to save Grayson’s fierce shot with two minutes left.
One minute into stoppage time and Frickley’s winner arrived. Another corner presented Stuart Ludlam with a free header and he powered it past Jones into the net.
To cap problems off for Town, straight after the goal Lee Elam was sent off for apparently pushing the referee and a minute later he was joined by Stephen Turnbull who was dismissed for a second yellow card offence.
