 salford city 0 - 3 harrogate town

Harrogate Town stormed into the FA Trophy First Round for the first time since 2010 after an emphatic 3-0 win at Salford City.

Joe Leesley gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of half time capitalising on a clever Joe Colbeck dummy and finishing well.

Colbeck then added a second 12 minutes into the second half thumping home a pull back from Louie Swain.

Andi Thanoj then made ensured it will be Town that host National League side Barrow at the next stage as the midfielder curled in from the edge of the box.

Simon Weaver made two changes from Saturday's win over AFC Telford as Colbeck and Leesley replaced Nicky Clee and Lloyd Kerry.

It was Leesley who had the first shot of the evening as the winger tested the reactions of Jay Lynch 16 minutes in, following an opening littered with quick Salford counter attacks.

The first 30 minutes passed with fairly little goal mouth action, though partly down to Louie Swain's strong one on one defending as Mike Phenix repeatedly ran at the Town defence.

Phenix came as close as anyone to breaking the deadlock six minutes before the break, cutting in on his right and bending past the top corner.

Just as the two evenly matched sides looked to be heading into the break level, Leesley put the visitors ahead.

Wayne Brooksby had broken down the left and crossed low towards Colbeck who showed great awareness to allow the ball to roll through to Leesley one on one with the goalkeeper.

Town doubled their advantage 12 minutes after the restart when Swain bombed forward from left back and pulled back for Colbeck to finish at the back post.

Weaver's men had the wind in their sails and found a third just after the hour mark as Thanoj curled past Lynch from the edge of the area.

Now three goals to the good Town were playing with a real confidence, and almost had a fourth when Colbeck's outside of the boot finish was hooked desperately off the line.

Despite needing a clever save from Chris Elliott to preserve their clean sheet in the 89th minute, the outcome had been settled for some time with Town now hosting Barrow on Saturday.
