Boston United 0-3 Harrogate Town

Harrogate Town claimed a first win at York Street in four years, and a first away league win since August as Simon Weaver’s men put three past Boston United.

In a physical battle from start to finish, Simon Ainge gave Town the lead after 31 minutes; meeting Joe Leesley’s cross with a diving header.

Ainge's strike partner Louie Swain added a second just before the hour mark; capitalising on a defensive error to round the Pilgrims' stopper and score.

Leesley then finished off proceedings, winning and converting a penalty to seal a win that sees Town move up one place to ninth in the National League North.

Simon Weaver made three changes from last Saturday with Ainge, Danny Ellis and Lewis Turner all returning to the starting 11.

Within the first minute of the contest, Ross Durrant made a mess of his clearance and invited Warren Burrell to try and chip in from 40 yards, but the attempt bounced agonizingly off the crossbar.

Town had started brightly and had the ball in the net inside the opening 15 minutes through Ainge, only for the whistle to have sounded for offside.

Boston did threaten through former York City striker Richard Brodie, who’s free kick delivery whistled wide of the post, minutes before Swain saw his strike blocked at the other end.

With just over half an hour played, the deadly combination of Leesley and Ainge again produced for Town with Ainge heading home Leesley’s delivery at the back post.

The visitors held their lead until the break and almost doubled it after the restart as both Joe Colbeck and Turner shot fractionally wide of the far post.

The second goal arrived two minutes before the hour mark as a mix up between defender and goalkeeper allowed Swain to round Durrant and score.

Adam Murray’s men nearly found an instant response though, as Brodie’s free kick delivery cannoned off the upright and away.

While Boston launched long balls towards Brodie, Ellis and Luke Shiels dealt with the aerial bombardment, before Town put the icing on the cake with a third goal.

Leesley broke down the left and rounded Kalern Thomas who then brought down the winger inside the area, before stepping up himself to strike the spot kick down the middle in what was the last notable action of the afternoon.
