Matt Bloomer

One of manager Simon Weaver’s first signings when he joined the club in June 2009. Matt is able to play in a variety of positions, although is normally found either at right back or in the centre of defence.

Matt’s career began as a trainee at his hometown club of Grimsby Town in 1997. During his first four year spell at the club he only managed to make over ten appearances before being released and joining Hull City, this again proved to be a frustrating period for Matt as he only took part in a handful of games during his two years at the “Tigers”.

Sent on loan twice during his spell at Hull, Matt made his mark at Lincoln City and it was a series of impressive displays that he turned in that helped Lincoln avoid relegation from the old division three. Matt also made several appearances for Telford United during a brief loan period at The Bucks Head.

Come the start of the 2003-2004 season, Matt made the move to Lincoln City again, although this time on a permanent basis. During his three years at Sincil Bank, Matt went on to make over 100 appearances (3 goals). Towards the end of his stay, Matt was loaned out again, firstly to former club Grimsby Town and then to Cambridge United.

Cambridge United became Matt’s new club at the start of 2006 but the struggling Conference Premier side cancelled his contract in January 2007 and Matt teamed up with Grimsby Town for the third time in his career. This however would be a short stay as four months later, Matt was released.

Boston United offered Matt a contract at the beginning of the 2077-2008 campaign and despite well documented troubles for the club, Matt would stay will the Lincolnshire based club until 2009 when he hooked up with Harrogate Town.
