Signed from Blyth Spartans in August of this season. Stephen is the brother of Phil Turnbull, who plays for Blue Square Bet Premier side Gateshead.
A very popular player, Stephen started his career at Hartlepool United where he made a total of 25 appearances. He has also played for Gateshead, Bury FC and Rochdale on loan.
In 2008, Stephen returned to Gateshead permanently and helped them into the Blue Square Premier via the play-offs. Unable to commit to full-time football he then moved to Blyth Spartans where he made 91 appearances and scored 14 goals.
Stephen left the club on the 26th February to move to Australia.
