The Exercise Stadium

The Exercise Stadium has been home to Harrogate Town AFC since the formation of the club.

Over the decades the ground has evolved under the stewardship of hard working and dedicated directors, supporters and volunteers. In 2012 a new custodian and current Chairman, Irving Weaver set out ambitious plans to develop the ground to a standard that President, George Dunnington, could only describe as "a dream".

The dream started to become a reality in 2013, with the construction of two new stands at the stadium.

After promotion to The National League in 2018 and the required ground developments that go with it, three new stands were built during the 2018/19 season, taking the capacity to over 4,000.

A standing terrace in front of The 1919 Venue and changing room end and a seperate standing terrace next to the Family Stand were both opened on Monday 22nd April as Gateshead visited The Exercise Stadium, with a seated stand next to the Exercise Stand completed in the Summer of 2019.

Following promotion to the EFL in August 2020, a grass pitch was installed to comply with EFL regulations, replacing the existing 3G pitch.

In addition to this, a new Main Stand was constructed with close to 1,000 seats, boosting the capacity of the stadium to 5,000.

Following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season, it was announced that £3.5m would be invested off the pitch, including the installation of a new seated stand taking the number of seats available in the ground to over 2,000.

Stadium Security & Safety

All our matches are manned by fully trained SIA Security Stewards who can be easily identified by their uniform. We have trained medics in attendance, two Defib Units on site and first aiders to attend to minor issues.

We would urge you not to bring bags to the stadium as we do have a Stop & Search Policy which is generally overseen by the local police outside the stadium at the turnstiles.

For the comfort of all our supporters and staff smoking is prohibited in all areas of the Exercise Stadium, including hospitality areas, the seating decks, and the entire length of the of the concourse including the stadium corners.

We appreciate and understand that some supporters wish to smoke or vape. Unfortunately, it is against Club regulation’s for anyone to leave the Exercise grounds pre, during, or post games to smoke or vape and then be allowed re-entry afterwards.

Lost Children Policy

Here at Harrogate Town AFC we are handing out Lost Child Wristbands to all fans, home and away, for FREE on matchdays.

Parents or guardians are being invited to write parent/guardian name, seat number, and mobile phone contact details on a free wristband, which is available at the turnstiles. We will hand them out to parents who want them on matchdays. This is of immense help to Harrogate Town AFC staff and members of the public if they discover a child that has been separated from their parent(s)/guardian(s) on matchday.

If and when a child is unfortunate enough to become separated from the parent/guardian, HTAFC staff can simply ring and reunite them at HTAFC main office.

This should drastically reduce the time families are separated meaning less time worrying and more time enjoying watching the match at the Exercise Stadium.

Accessibility

As part of our goal to make matchdays at The Exercise as accessible as possible for everyone, a number of Stoma toilets have been installed around the ground.

Free sanitary products are now also available in all Women's toilets.
