Town will be looking to progress to the FA Trophy Quarter Finals for the first time in their history on Saturday as Isthmian Premier League side Billericay visit The CNG Stadium.
Our Third Round opponents have been thrust into the spotlight since Owner/ Manager Glenn Tamplin purchased the club in December 2016 having brought a number of former Premier League stars to New Lodge, including Paul Konchesky and Jermaine Pennant.
The Blues could go top of the league on Tuesday night and are currently on an 18-match unbeaten run, having won all but two of those fixtures since an FA Cup defeat against Leatherhead.
Much of Ricay’s success has been down to Jake Robinson who has notched an incredible 42 goals this season, including six hat-tricks, though Saturday’s visitors’ 63 league goals scored is still three shy of Town’s total.
Tamplin’s side can also boast their division’s best defensive record and have yet to lose a game away from home this season, winning the last ten.
While Simon Weaver’s side have found the net in every match this season, The Blues have only failed to score once; on the opening day of the 2017/18 campaign.
Both sides have impressive recent records in the Trophy with Town not suffering defeat in normal time in their last eight matches; eliminating Darlington, Wrexham and St Albans to reach this stage.
Billericay meanwhile have had to come through five rounds to reach the Third Round, most recently overcoming Stourbridge and Havant and Waterlooville to set up a first ever meeting between the sides.
Town have won their last five matches at The CNG Stadium, scoring 17 times in the process, but a sixth win will have to be without right back Ryan Fallowfield who remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.
