Kidderminster 0 Town 2

Town ended Kidderminster Harriers' 17-game unbeaten run at Aggborough with an impressive 2-0 win this afternoon.

Joe Leesley opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour in emphatic fashion when his left footed piledriver crached in off the underside of the bar.

Dom Knowles made it two with a low finish on the turn one minute after the restart, while an outstanding defensive display kept the National League North's top scorers at home out and ensured Town claimed a first ever win over The Harriers.

Simon Weaver named the same starting XI that won 3-1 at Leamington last weekend with Liam Kitching and John McCombe paired together in the centre of defence.

Both sides were limited to long range efforts in the opening exchanges and Leesley's free kick deflected onto the roof of the net moments before Elton Ngwatala's effort bent a few yards wide of the top corner.

With a quarter of an hour played Leesley fired home the opener in emphatic style as the winger collected possession after Jonathan Flatt had palmed away Mark Beck's header and struck the ball sweetly into the net off the bar.

Kidderminster thought they had equalised in the 33th minute when James Belshaw tipped Declan Weeks' free kick onto the bar and Joe Ironside headed the rebound into the back of the net, only to be flagged offside by the linesman.

Town almost doubled their lead six minutes before the break as Leesley's low cross was inches away from being tapped into an empty net by Beck, but entered the interval just a goal to the good.

Weaver's side did get their second a minute into the second half as Knowles turned sharply on the edge of the area and fired into the far corner!

The hosts introduced former AFC Fylde frontman Dan Bradley in an effort to get back into the game, but the substitute could only blaze over the bar when he found himself behind the Town defence.

Bradley did almost create a way back into the game for his side in the 74th minute when he crossed towards George Waring, but Kidderminster's second substitute could only find the side netting with his headed finish.

The hosts threw all they could at Town's resolute back line late on, but couldn't find their shiooting boots as numerous attempts missed the target to ensure Town claimed a first ever win over their opponents.

Second half susbstitute Jordan Thewlis went close to adding Town's third with almost the last kick of the game after cutting inside on his right foot, but saw Flatt claim on the line at the second attempt.
