Ladies Trophy to be Presented Wednesday

With the news that our Ladies team will be presented with the Southern Division Trophy after their derby match at Station View on Wednesday night, we take a look back at another momentous season for Town Ladies both on and off the field.

The first team had the Southern Division sown up by early March and a youthful Development team held their own and finished in the top half of the North Riding Premier League.

On the personnel front, Town’s outstanding midfield dynamo Jade Pennock, jumped four divisions with her recent transfer to Doncaster Belles who currently lie top of the WSL Southern Division – everyone involved at Town wishes our very own version of “Lionel Messi” all the very best in her new team.

The Girls Player Development Centre (PDC) continues to thrive with a mixture of over 30 girls aged 8-15 attending sessions on Friday evening – the girls have also participated in a number of friendly fixtures where they have performed with great credit. The PDC is soon to be complemented by the launch of an SSE Wildcats centre, designed to introduce girls aged 5-10 to the world of sport with a particular emphasis on participation in “the beautiful game”.

And finally, it would be remiss of me not to mention our Development team captain Chloe Bellerby. Two years ago she suffered from a serious mental illness, yet two years on she is about to embark on a soccer scholarship over in the USA. In addition to this she completed a Charity walk from Leeds to London to raise £10,000 for the mental health charity Mind, part of which has included an interview on BBC Breakfast TV.

With a Club ethos that is all about personal development, this season will take some beating but with a number of talented youngsters coming through the ranks, there is much to be optimistic about.
