Leamington Preview

Town face another long trip on Saturday as we travel to Leamington looking to further close the gap to the top of the league.

Saturday’s opponents sit two points above the relegation zone, with Paul Holleran’s side knowing a win could lift them ahead of as many as three of their rivals.

Since earning promotion from the Southern Football League last season, The Brakes have won just four of their home games, though have lost only two of their last nine league games at New Windmill Ground.

Leamington were frustrated last weekend with a draw at bottom team North Ferriby after going down to ten men in the first half, meaning The Brakes have now won just one of their last eight National League North games.

The sides could not be separated earlier in the season after a 2-2 draw at The CNG Stadium, the fifth time the sides have met and failed to produce a home win with Town’s previous two visits to New Windmill Ground resulting in three points.

Simon Weaver’s side go into the contest with the division’s second best away record and as the league’s top scorers, though have lost five of the last six away league games after going ten unbeaten beforehand.

Town will once again be without Ryan Fallowfield through injury, though Weaver will be hoping to have Terry Kennedy back at his disposal.

Speaking after Tuesday night’s defeat at Billericay, Harrogate’s Manager said: “A win on Saturday will go some way towards making it right after Tuesday night’s defeat and ultimately we have to give a better showing.”
