Leyton Orient Preview

Good Friday’s fixture sees Town travel to league leaders Leyton Orient for the first time, in a match that will be televised on BT Sport.

Orient sit two points clear of Salford at the top of The National League with just three matches to go, while Town have a five point cushion between themselves and eighth placed Ebbsfleet; meaning there is plenty to play for at The Breyer Group Stadium.

Having been appointed Manager of a side just three points above the relegation zone in November 2017, Justin Edinburgh has transformed Orient into title contenders and will be desperate to get his side into The Football League, where The O’s spent 112 years before relegation in 2016/17.

The sides met for the first time in history at The CNG Stadium in September, with both boasting unbeaten records, though it was Orient that maintained their impressive start with a 3-0 victory.

Saturday’s opponents go into the clash on the back of a late win at Sutton at the weekend, the 23rd time Orient have scored in the final 15 minutes of matches this season.

Macauley Bonne has been the most prolific for the league’s third top scorers behind Town and Salford with 23 goals, though it is a defence that has conceded a league best 35 goals that has caught the eye this season.

Despite that record, goals look to be on the cards on Friday with the two sides going a combined ten matches without keeping a clean sheet.

Orient have lost just one of their last 13 matches in all competitions and are unbeaten in five at Brisbane Road, though Town have lost just one of their last seven away from The CNG Stadium, winning on five of those trips, and have the third best away record in the league.

It will be the fourth time that Town have been shown live on BT Sport with our goalless draw at Fylde being followed by victory over Hartlepool and defeat to Salford at The CNG Stadium.
