Simon Weaver’s side have six games left of the regular season to secure their play-off place, with three games to be played at home, including this Saturday’s tie and three to be played away, including trips to fellow Football League hopefuls Wrexham and league leaders Leyton Orient.

From rivals battling promotion to another rival team battling for safety, Town come up against a Maidstone side that will be desperate for points, but for completely different reasons than Wednesday’s opponents.

Maidstone are currently 16 points from safety and arrive in North Yorkshire knowing that they must pick up as many points as possible in the final run in if they stand a chance of survival.

The Stones are managed by former Barnet Boss John Still, who still holds a firm belief that his side aren’t down and out until it’s mathematically impossible to grab safety.

Still came out of retirement in January of this year and will be managing at The CNG Stadium for the second time this season having overseen proceedings when Barnet made the trip, though the 68 year old left empty handed with Town recording their first three points at National League level.

Three weeks after stepping down at Barnet and announcing his retirement, Still performed a U-turn in order to save his former club Maidstone from falling out of the National League, having previously managed the side from 1986 to 1989.

Harrogate and Maidstone have only faced off once in both the sides history, with Harrogate winning that fixture back in September thanks to goals from Jack Muldoon and Callum Howe.

The Town defence will have to be wary of Stones top goal scorer Blair Turgott, who has managed to find the back of the net 12 times this season in an eye catching campaign.
