Some first class finishing sent Harrogate Town out of the Emirates FA Cup after Simon Weaver's side suffered a 4-0 defeat away at Kenilworth Road.
Elijah Adebayo's well taken opener after 19 minutes sent Luton ahead at the break after what was a promising first 45 for Simon Weaver's side.
Luton doubled their lead early in the second half through Cameron Jerome, before late goals from Kal Naismith and Luke Berry ended all hopes of a Town upset.
Weaver had handed an Emirates FA Cup debut to Brahima Diarra, while Ryan Fallowfield, Lloyd Kerry and George Thomson all returned to the starting line-up.
Harrogate's full backs were causing their Championship opponents problems early on as both Lewis Page and Fallowfield got forward and delivered dangerous low crosses into the box.
In their first real sight of goal, Luton took the lead as a direct piece of play saw Jerome flick the ball to strike partner Adebayo, who shielded from the attentions of Nathan Sheron before expertly finding the bottom corner.
Going behind didn't dampen Town's spirits though with Thomson and the lively Diarra both having opportunities to level before the break.
The hosts started the second half much improved, going close through Adebayo before Jerome doubled his side's lead, the striker the first to get to a loose ball after Mark Oxley had kept out Carlos Mendes-Gomes' low drive.
At 2-0 down, Town were forced to replace Fallowfield with Warren Burrell, while Josh Austerfield was also introduced in place of Kerry.
Town twice went close to halving the deficit in the final quarter of an hour, first when Armstrong glanced a header wide of the post, then when Diarra slid just wide of the target after being poked through by Armstrong.
The missed chances would prove costly as Naismith scored Luton's third on 81 minutes, dinking over the advancing Oxley after his initial effort was blocked by Rory McArdle, but fell kindly to the Luton man.
Substitute Luke Berry added a fourth in the 88th minute, resulting in a final scoreline that on paper looked like a comfortable win for the Championship side, but in reality was a contest in which Harrogate matched their higher ranked opposition in many areas.
