Substitute Jack Emmett struck in stoppage time to send Town up to fourth in the National League after what had looked for long periods like being a frustrating home draw against Aldershot.
Emmett had been introduced with fifteen to go and popped up with his first goal of the season right at the death, with a clean sheet at the other end extending Town's unbeaten run to nine.
Simon Weaver made one change from last weekend's fixture at Halifax with Alex Bradley replacing the injured Connor Hall, a change that resulted in Warren Burrell returning to the back four.
Shots full back Robbie Tinkler had the first effort of the afternoon five minutes in, volleying over the bar from the edge of the area, before Mark Beck poked wide of Mitch Walker's goal at the other end.
Town almost broke the deadlock after the quarter of an hour mark when Beck's flick released strike partner Jack Muldoon, but last season's top scorer's finish took a deflection on it's way behind for a corner.
Jack Diamond was able to collect the resulting kick at the far post, only for his low drive to be blocked by an Aldershot defender.
Jack Powell forced the first save of the contest, forcing James Belshaw to keep out his free kick.
Town's best chance of the half fell to Captain Josh Falkingham after Brendan Kiernan had won possession and pulled the ball back, but the midfielder could only drag wide of the post.
Shamir Mullings maybe should have done better minutes later after the overlapping Lewis Kinsella had picked him out in space in the box, only for the big striker to volley wide in the last notable action of the half.
Mullings was at it again after the break, testing Belshaw with an early drive before curling over following good work from Ethan Chislett.
Chances were few and far between in the second half, with Ryan Fallowfield left wondering how no one got on the end of his teasing low cross.
With just under 15 minutes to go, Weaver rolled the dice, introducing Jack Emmett and George Thomson, with Jon Stead following shortly after.
Stead was able to test Walker and win a corner, though Thomson's delivery was headed over by Will Smith leaving Aldershot's clean sheet in tact, for now.
With the contest destined for a draw, Will Smith won a corner at the back post, paving the way for Emmett to finish, claiming all three points and sending home supporters home delighted.
