Following Saturday’s final game of the season, the first team management squad have been spending the week meeting players to inform them of decisions made.
Eight players will be leaving the club this Summer upon the expiry of their contracts, including Lloyd Kerry, who is retiring to take up the role of Head of Player Recruitment.
Also departing are Ryan Fallowfield, Lewis Page, Mark Beck, Joe Cracknell, Simon Power, Connor Kirby and Joe Leesley.
We would like to say a huge thank you to those leaving the club and wish them good luck for the future.
Manager Simon Weaver on the depature of Fallowfield, Beck and Cracknell, who all spent long periods with the club:
"They should be proud of how they’ve conducted themselves as men as well as players. All of them have added to group and the positive atmosphere we’ve had. It’s hard to say goodbye but hopefully we can always remain friends and Thirs and I have had a very special bond with these great people. I really do hope all the lads that have left go on to do well, I’d really like to see that.
"Ryan is renowned for his energy and has been a great character for the group with his infectious personality and the standards he set with his fitness and desire. Those bombing forward overlaps for Thommo will never be forgotten and in particular, the assist for Joe Leesley in the National League North Playoff Final and for Thommo in the National League Playoff Final are moments we’ll never forget.
"Becky has had some great moments for us and I remember vividly him scoring a header at York City in front of the away fans. They were incredible scenes and helped get us to new heights. He’s a gentle giant off the pitch but had some phenomenal performances, including against Portsmouth at home in the FA cup, where he was big, strong and dominant against a League One team.
"Cracks has been integral in keeping great harmony in the group and he’s a character unflustered by anything. He’s a big friendly giant, has a lovely demeanour, always trained hard and has been the model pro. win, lose or draw, whether picked to play or not, these three players never sucked the air out of the room. Instead, they always had a positive influence and I can’t thank them enough for that."
The club are in discussions with Rory McArdle regarding extending the defender’s stay at the club.
