Town welcome Chorley to The CNG Stadium on Sunday with a place in the National League North Play-Off Final awaiting the winners.
Matt Jansen’s side have been losing Play-Off finalists in two of the last three seasons and overcame Stockport 1-0 on Wednesday night to leave themselves a game off reaching the final for a third time.
Much of The Magpies success this season has been based on a solid defence that has conceded the fewest goals away from home, though at the other end of the pitch no team in the top half scored fewer times.
Sunday’s opponents enter the contest in good form on the back of five straight wins, while Jansen’s side have lost just one of their previous 10 National League North matches.
Town have come out on top in recent meetings having won the last three, including a 4-1 victory at The CNG Stadium early in the season.

Simon Weaver’s side go into the clash with the league’s best home record having lost just two league games at The CNG Stadium all season, a ground where Town have won 11 of the last 13.
There has never been a draw in eight meetings between the sides, though if the scores are level after 90 minutes the match will be decided with 30 minutes of extra time, and if needed, a penalty shoot-out.
For the visitors, Matty Hughes will be back from suspension, though Adam Blakeman serves the final match of his ban.
