Town 1 Chesterfield 1

Aaron Williams scored with the last kick of the game to ensure Town avoided a third National League defeat of the season and rescued a point from Chesterfield's visit to The CNG Stadium.

After a first half of little goal mouth action, Jonathan Smith struck from close range to put The Spirities ahead.

Town looked to be on the way to defeat, until second half substitute Williams fired home in the 97th minute to spark scenes of celebration and relief from the home supporters.

Simon Weaver named the same squad that overcame Barrow on Tuesday night with goal scorers Beck and Jack Muldoon partnered in attack.

In the opposing dugout, Martin Allen brought Will Evans and Zavon Hines into his starting line-up.

The first 15 minutes passed with very little goalmouth action, George Thomson's deflected strike after four minutes forcing the only early save.

Muldoon was providing plenty of energy in attack and almost opened the scoring 23 minutes in as he met Thomson's cross with a first time finish, but couldn't hit the target.

With seven minutes to go until the break an exchange on the touchline provided the first half's biggest talking point.

Weaver and Zavon Hines had a disagreement with the Chesterfield forward shoving Town's Manager and both parties ending up in the Referee's notebook.

Just before the altercationJoe Leesley had forced a save from Burton, but not enough to prevent the sides entering the interval goalless.

The second half started in the same fashion as the first half ended with chances few and far between, until the 57th minute when Chesterfield took the lead with their first shot on target.

Substitute Jerome Binnom-Williams capitalised on a mistake to gain possession inside the box before squaring to Smith who provided a low finish.

Having gained the lead, Chesterfield frustrated Town who could not craft any chances to get back into the game, while Binnom-Williams threatened with a shot on the counter at the other end.

Only headers from Beck and Kitching looked like changing the score, though with five minutes to go Josh Falkingham was convinced his side should have had a penalty after he thought his shot had struck a Chesterfield hand, but only a corner was awarded.

From the resulting set piece Kitching's header was well saved by Burton, before Beck's follow up somehow didn't cross the line!

Town looked to be on the way to defeat, until second half substitute Williams fired home in the 97th minute to spark scenes of celebration and relief from the home supporters.
