U17s | Scarborough 0 Town 5

Town’s U17s faced an away trip to Scarborough U17s on Sunday 11th August, looking to build on an impressive 5-0 win against Bradford EDS last Friday.

Town started brightly and went a goal up after an interchange of passing between Danny Mutch, Joe Gosling and Malaki Mason, the latter racing through one on one and finishing smartly past the oncoming goalkeeper.

Town continued their pressure and came close with Ethan Thorpe and Alfie Dean both hitting their shots just wide of the post.

The Young Harrogate side finally double their lead when Thorpe’s low cross met the run of Adam Kellett, whose close range finished left the keeper no chance.

Two quickly became three through Kellett again when Gosling’s low cross found Kellett in the box, his first time shot looping over the keeper and into the top corner.

Very good defensive displays from Harry Clark, Joe Caygill and Jack Annis meant Scarborough weren’t able to test Bailey Calvert in goal.

Town had to wait until the second half to add another when Dean made himself space in the Scarborough post only to see his effort rebound back off the post, though Gosling was on hand to turn the rebound in and give Harrogate a deserved fourth.

Kellett added town’s fifth and completed his hat-trick late on after been but through by Gosling, rounding off a very good performance with a left footed finish into the bottom corner.

Ten goals in two games and back to back clean sheets making a great start to preseason for the young Harrogate side.

Town U17s: Bailey Calvert, Kyle Browne, Alex Heilds, Harry Clark, Joe Caygill, Joe Gordon, Connor Whelan, Danny Mutch, Jack Annis, Malaki Mason, Alfie Dean, Adam Kellett, Ethan Thorpe, Joe Gosling, Joe Navier

Goals: Mason 3, Kellett 23, 28, 86, Gosling 60
