Harrogate Town News

U17s | Town 2 Leicester International Academy 3

Harrogate Town Under 17’s hosted a very professional set up in Leicester City International Academy on Saturday.

The visitors made a commanding start, going two goals up in the first 20 minutes as the youthful Town side took a while to get into the game.
The early goals gave Josh Walsh’s side a wakeup call as they saw more of the ball and started to create chances.
Town grabbed a deserved goal when Gabe Humphries won the ball high up the pitch and fed Josh Wicks who managed to chip the keeper, sending Town into the break one goal behind.
The second half had started quickly with both sides having chances; Town’s best falling to Adam Kellett who found himself one on one with the keeper, but couldn’t beat him from a tight angle.
It was Town who hit next after again winning the ball high up the pitch, this time through Dan Ingoldsby, Lucas Abusin played through Humphries who was brought down in the box.
Humphries steeped up and put the penalty away to level the game.
The pace of the game remained as both teams continued to press and create chances, but it was the visitors who scored the decisive goal as they hit on the counter late on.
A great spectacle for the neutral supporter, but an unfortunate outcome on the young Town side.

Josh Walsh's side are back in action on Sunday 11th November as they travel to Farsley Celtic in the Garforth Junior Football League.
