Lloyd Kerry marked his return from injury with a goal as Town’s U21 side romped to a 6-0 win over Goole at The CNG Stadium.
Josh Falkingham’s side took an early lead through the form of an own goal following some good work down the left by Lewis Riley and Ben O’Hanlon, shortly before Charlie Baird pounced to make it two after another good delivery into the box.
Kerry then added to the score with a typical curling finish from just inside the area, before Baird’s second of the evening, another poacher’s finish, put Town in a commanding position at half time.
Further quality service into the box allowed Kyle Willis to add his name to the score sheet, before Riley got forward late in the game to mark an impressive performance with a goal.
Manager Falkingham said: “We have dominated right from the start and put a lot of good balls in to dangerous areas, but the most important thing for me was the clean sheet.
“It did become very comfortable and we were probably trying things that we wouldn’t normally towards the end but in games like that a little bit of complacency is going to creep in.
“It was great for Lloyd to be back involved, he came through with no problems, looked good and really enjoyed it; he is going to be a big player for us.”
Next Monday at The CNG we take on Pontefract Collieries in the West Riding County Cup which will be another chance for Falkingham’s side to get some first team action.
He added: “A lot of my lads will get the opportunity to be involved next Monday and hopefully we get a decent number of fans here like there was for the previous round.”
