Our Under 17 team have enjoyed a fantastic month in front of goal, scoring a combined 23 goals in their last three outings.
First, Josh Walsh’s side strolled to a 6-0 win against Thorpe with Gus Steele opening the scoring by firing past multiple bodies and into the net.
Town made it two before half time when Owen Marwood slid Hamish McNeil in down the left who calmly pulled the ball across to an unmarked James Richardson to tap in.
Sam Clark was introduced at the break and added two more to Town’s total, before closing down the opposition goalkeeper to complete his hat-trick.
It was a fantastic second half display from Clark, who rounded the ‘keeper to tap in his fourth and Town’s sixth in the closing moments.
Town made it back to back six goal wins a week later, beating Stanningley by six goals to one.
James Richardson opened the scoring in the third minute when his cross/shot found its way into the top corner.
Sam Phoenix made it two after five minutes, before Clark again showed his ability on front of goal, netting a first half hat-trick to put Town out of sight at the break.
Town’s performance level dropped in the second half and saw a first goal conceded in three matches, though Phoenix’s second in the 85th
minute kept the five goal advantage intact.
Walsh’s side took on the same opponents a fortnight later, and recorded their biggest win of the season with an emphatic 11 goal win against Stanningley.
Clark, Steele and Olly Heselgrave put Town three goals to the good in a typically one sided first half.
That pattern continued in the second 45 as Clark grabbed a hat-trick for the third game in a row, but had to share the match ball with Phoenix who also netted three.
There was still time for Henry Dobly, Connor Weal and Anthony Caven to find the net and seal an emphatic rout.
Town will be looking to continue their winning run this Sunday when the play Pontefract at The CNG Stadium (Kick-off 10:00).
