Simon Weaver is expecting a tough encounter tomorrow as Town travel to Victory Park to take on last season’s beaten play-off finalists Chorley.
He told Stray FM: “We need to win our individual battles because they are a good outfit who are a lot more experienced individually than us.
“We have to really show our mettle tomorrow, we will be without a couple of players so it will be a young team, but it can be the making of players going into environments like Chorley, standing up for yourself and being strong.
“It might be a difficult pitch because of the bad weather that everyone has been having so we need to know when to play, and persevere with our game plan.”
Town go into the game on the back of a convincing win over Darlington on New Years’ Day, a victory that impressed the Harrogate Boss, and not just from an attacking perspective.
He said: “I thought as a team we were a lot more solid, we were really gritty when we needed to be and we won our physical battles.
“We showed great attitude and determination to bounce back superbly and I think the crowd enjoyed a really good spectacle.
“When we win games we tend to pass it about well, but you have to show both sides and I thought we did on New Years’ Day and have done for the majority of the season, but now we have to kick on.”
With league leaders Salford taking just one point from nine over the festive period, the gap at the top of the table now stands at just four points, and Weaver is determined to continue applying pressure at the top.
He added: “Every club goes through a little bit of a blip, we have had our own defeats where we could have improved on our performance, but we have just got to try and be relentless now.
“We need to kick on now, be intense with our play and work as hard as we did the other day against Darlington.
“We have plenty of good players who will be looking to take advantage and get some positive results that will allow us to put more pressure on at the top.”
