Weaver Wanting to Repeat Wrexham Performance

Simon Weaver told BBC York Sport he hopes his side can replicate performance levels shown last weekend at Wrexham when North Ferriby visit The CNG Stadium.

Mark Beck’s brace saw Town book their place in the FA Trophy Second Round in Wales, but Town’s Manager knows his side can’t afford to slip up against bottom of the league Ferriby.

He said: “We set the benchmark last week in terms of the performance level, but tomorrow there will be more pressure on ourselves because we are playing North Ferriby and they are bottom of our league.

“We need to get the win and make sure that everything preparation wise and performance wise is sustained from the levels we showed last week.

“The lads were a credit to themselves and applied themselves really well, it was a big ground and a big set up but they controlled their emotions well and made sure we got through to the next round, so we can take a lot of pride from that.”

Weaver added: “We know the Bolder brothers bring with them a lot of pride, they have got some new players in who are all trying to prove a point at this level so we have got to be careful.

“If we let our standards slip we open up the door to an upset, but we don’t want to go into it worried, just aware of the threats they pose.

“We have to show great energy, we are a full time team, the average ag is 23/24 and there is a lot of ability in the camp, so let’s go and enjoy being good players and a good team in front of a really good support.

“We are at home and want to send the crowd home happy and safe in the knowledge that we are on a good run of form and breathing down Salford’s necks.”
