Wrexham FA Cup Replay Preview

After Saturday’s goalless draw at The CNG Stadium, Town and Wrexham meet again at The Racecourse Ground this evening for a place in The Emirates FA Cup First Round.

The sides have now faced off for over three hours without producing a goal after a league meeting under a month ago, though a draw tonight would result in Extra Time and, if needed, penalties.

A trip to National League South side Weston-super-Mare, £25,000 in prize money and a place in the First Round for the first time since 2012/13 in Town’s case, or 2014/15 in Wrexham’s case awaits the winners.

Going into the tie, Sam Ricketts’ side have not lost at home this season, though Town have yet to taste defeat on their travels and have won their last four on the road.

The two sides who sit 2nd and 4th respectively have lost just three of their last 34 matches combined.

Former Wales International Ricketts has overseen victories in his last three at The Racecourse Ground, though Simon Weaver’s side have won their last four away from home.

Weaver’s men remain The National League’s top scorers, but come up against a defence only AFC Fylde have conceded less than, with The Dragons allowing just one in their last five home fixtures.

No National League side has been better than Town on their travels this year, while Weaver’s side have lost just one of their last 20 competitive fixtures.

Wrexham will once again be without injured trio Manny Smith, Chris Holroyd and James Jennings, while Luke Summerfield will be assessed after being withdrawn on Saturday, as will Town’s Dom Knowles and Callum Howe who missed Saturday’s draw.
