Nuneaton Town Preview

3 August 2017

Harrogate Town kick off the 2017/18 season at home on Saturday afternoon with an intriguing contest against Nuneaton Town.

The two clubs finished a place apart last season, and both took three points from the other on home soil.

The Boro visited the CNG Stadium in August when Simon Weaver's side recorded a 3-1 win to extend their impressive start; with Joe Leesley getting his name on the score sheet.

Saturday's opposition on the other hand, had not started the season well, but the appointment of Tommy Wright saw the club's fortunes improve and pave the way for a strong finish; including a 2-1 success over Town at Liberty Way in April.

Last August's meeting was the first time Town had claimed three points from Nuneaton in their last nine attempts, with The Boro holding the advantage over Town in head to heads with nine wins to Town's four.

Town ended their pre-season campaign with four wins, one draw and two defeats; including successes over National League opponents Gateshead and Hartlepool.

New signing Jordan Thewlis was in the best form in front of goal netting five times, while Jack Emmett was the most involved player after completing 405 minutes.

Both Ryan Fallowfield (dead leg) and Dominic Knowles (hamstring) were withdrawn against Gateshead last weekend, but both will be hoping to be involved in the season opener.
