Town U17's 8 Ossett Town U17's 2

21 August 2017

A dominating performance from Town U17's led to an 8 - 2 victory over a strong Ossett Town side on Friday night.

Sam Phoenix scored the opening two goals; his first coming when Carl Robinson's drilled pass found Phoenix at the edge of the area, who turned and bent his shot into the far corner for his first goal.

His second came after Tom Palmer's forward run and through ball found James Richardson, who's shot could only be parried into the path of Phoenix to tap in.

Town scored their third when a swift passing move gave Connor Weal an opportunity to get down the right. After a fluent one - two with Hamish McNeil, Weal clipped a ball into the back post where Richardson lost his marker and powered a header past the keeper.

Town went in 3-1 up at half time and, after conceding minutes after the restart, were quickly back on top when a whipped Robinson corner went all the way through the box and bounced off an unfortunate Ossett player and into the net.

Sam Clark, who forced a few heads up at the end of last season, was brought on from the bench replacing McNeil and took over the game, scoring four goals.

Gus Steele played Clark through and his pace took him beyond the defence before chipping a helpless Ossett keeper for his first goal.

Town enjoyed a good spell of possession before Brook Nugent played the ball forward to Henry Dolby who linked up well with Robinson before finding Clark in the area. Clark, under pressure, managed to find the bottom corner after beating a defender in the box.

Clark sealed his hat-trick when a clipped ball from Olly Heselgrave found Phoenix, who flicked the ball into the path of Clark. After one touch with his chest, he struck a powerful volley leaving the keeper no chance.

Clark had his fourth and Towns eighth when Robinson's through ball gave Clark a chance town run past a tiring Ossett back four. After getting one on one with the keeper, he managed to prod the ball into the corner, sealing a deserved win for the young Harrogate side.

A very pleasing evening and a thank you once again goes out to the Harrogate Town Faithful that are supporting our Youth!
