Boston Preview

15 November 2017

Harrogate Town welcome Boston United to The CNG Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with Craig Elliott taking charge of his first match for The Pilgrims.

The former Shaw Lane Manager takes over a side sitting second bottom of The National League North and will be looking to turn around the fortunes of a team with just four wins all season.

Before last season's 16th place finish, Boston had ended in the league's top six for three straight years, but a run of one win in nine league games makes repeating their recent success an extremely uphill task.

The Pilgrims have lost ten of their last 13 away league games, including seven from nine this season, but did manage a 2-0 win at Leamington on their last trip away from York Street.

A debut win for Elliott could lift his new side out of the bottom three, though recent meetings between the two have gone in Town's favour, including 2-0 and 3-0 wins last season.

Boston have won just one of the last 11 meetings between the sides, and have not come away from The CNG Stadium with all three points since 2011.

Following Brackley's midweek win over Southport, Town now lie third in the league table, though remain top scorers alongside Blyth Spartans.

Only The Saints have conceded less goals at home than Town, who have lost just one of their last eight National League North matches at The CNG Stadium.

There was positive news on the injury front this week for Simon Weaver as Louie Swain returned to action on Monday night with a two goal cameo against Ossett Town, and the former Bradford City man could be involved in the first team squad for the first time since March this weekend.
