Town U17s 6 Selby U19s 0

1 November 2017

Harrogate Town Under 17's tested themselves against older opposition on Tuesday night as they took on Selby Town Under 19's.

Town took the lead early in the first half when Carl Robinson's whipped free kick was met on the volley by Gus Steele ten yards out to give the keeper no chance.

Harrogate stayed on top and were dominating possession with chances coming thick and fast for the young side with both Sam Phoenix and Lucas Abusin going close.

Town's second came when a half-cleared corner fell to James Richardson with his back to goal, before his unorthodox volley found its way through the keeper and into the back of the net.

Town continued to move the ball well and claimed their third of the evening when Connor Weal found himself high up the pitch and his cross was met by Phoenix who's glancing header hit the post, though Robinson was in the right place to finish from eight yards out.

Harrogate continued to dominate in the second half and got their fourth when Richardson beat his fullback, got himself into the box and pulled back towards Phoenix who finished well into the far corner.

Harrogate were creating plenty of chances through their midfielders Henry Dolby, Abusin and Robinson; and it was Abusin that added the fifth after a good break and a clever one-two with Phoenix set him one on one with the keeper and able to slide into the corner.

Town kept pushing forward and added a sixth and final goal when Phoenix managed to get a cross into the box that Abusin met at the near post and diverted into the top corner.

Selby pushed for a late consolation but were time and time again denied by by Steele and Olly Heslegrave at centre back, and Will Godbehere in goal.
