U21's | Silsden 2 Town 1

6 October 2017

Town's Under 21 side were dealt a first defeat of the season on Thursday night after a 2-1 reverse at Silsden.

Josh Falkingham's side made a good start to the contest and looked menacing in the opening ten to 15 minutes before eventually taking the lead through Morgan Smith.

Smith added to his two goals the previous week taking his chance well with a good left footed finish.

Town were controlling the game and looked to be well on the way to a fourth successive win, only for a misjudged long ball to allow the hosts in for an equaliser.

Silsden then turned the contest on its head moments before half time as another defensive error similar to the one that lead to the hosts' first goal saw Town fall behind.

Despite the score line, the first half was very even with both sides finding chances few and far between.

A couple of half time substitutes were made in an effort to find a way back into the contest, but Silsden remained organised at the back, and coupled with some poor Town attacking, maintained their lead to send Town to a first loss of the season.

Manager Falkingham said: “It was a disappointing and frustrating night because once they got the lead we couldn't break them down.

“We got a bit sloppy in the second half and didn't do the things we have been working on in training; that's why we never managed to dent Silsden's defence and come away with a positive result.

Town's U21 team will have the chance to return to winning ways on Monday night as Yorkshire Amateur visit The CNG Stadium.
