The CNG Stadium will host a charity football match on Tuesday night, in aid of Parkinsons UK.
The Charity Cup is Harrogate's oldest football competition, and the local FA's “largest” cup is competed for annually, on an invitation basis, by teams who were successful in the previous season ( similar to the FA Community Shield) with the aim of raising money for a local charity.
This year the cup final will be between Knaresborough Celtic, who won last season's FA Whitworth Cup by beating neighbours Knaresborough Town at the CNG stadium in May, and Harrogate Veterans who won the West Riding County Veterans Cup.
It promises to be an intriguing match between the young Celtic side who are now playing in the West Yorkshire League for the first time and the Over 40s Veterans team who are likely to have some ex professional players in their ranks.
Admission to the game which kicks off at 7.30pm is £3.00 with a £1.00 for concessions. All money raised will be for Parkinsons UK in memory of the late Joe Billington, who was active in local football for 50 years.
