Harrogate Town and Bradford Park Avenue will meet again on Monday night after a goalless draw at The CNG Stadium.
Mark Bower's side started confidently, but it was hosts Harrogate who had the early shots as Liam Agnew's deflected effort fell to Jordan Thewlis, who saw his strike saved by Steven Drench.Drench was in action again after a quarter of an hour, this time keeping out George Thomson's shot, before his opposite number James Belshaw tipped Adam Boyes' dipping effort onto the roof of the net.
Terry Kennedy was convinced his side should have been awarded a spot kick midway through the half and feeling he had been thrown to the ground by a BPA defender, but referee David Underwood waved play on.
Thomson again went close towards the end of the half, as did Javan Vidal who fired over the bar after finding space on the edge of the area.
Warren Burrell came closest out of anyone to breaking the deadlock as his acrobatic attempt clipped the cross bar just past the hour mark.
With both sides desperate to avoid a replay, the final 15 minutes saw a flurry of chances as Ryan Fallowfield's mazy run ended in another Drench save, while Kennedy's superbly timed block prevented Wayne Brooksby's shot from finding the corner.
Both Nicky Boshell and Thewlis went close in the entertaining final seconds, but neither could find the finishing touch and seal their progress to the next round.
