A fantastic five goal haul from Dom Knowles ensured Harrogate Town ended the season in style, and with the National League North's best home record, with a 5-0 win over Curzon Ashton.

The striker got on the end of Jordan Thewlis' cross mid-way through the first half to give his side the advantage, before curling home his second just 14 seconds after the restart.

Knowles sealed  hat-trick in the 50th minute as he collected Mark Beck's knock down, rounded his marker and poked past Cameron Mason to put Town ina  commanding position.

With the contest entering stoppage time, Jake Wright was brought down inside the box allowing Knowles to claim his fourth from the penalty spot.

Town were sat on 99 league goals for the season with seconds to go, before Knowles struck once again in the 92nd minute, converting Wright's cross to seal a memorable afternoon.

Simon Weaver made five changes from last weekend's trip to Bradford Park Avenue as Joe Cracknell, Lloyd Kerry, Toby Lees and Thewlis all made their first starts since January.

Town went close to opening the scoring after four minutes when Thewlis' left wing cross was headed goalwards at the back post by George Thomson, but took a deflection before going behind.

Eight minutes later Thomson delivered a delightful cross from the right that Beck got on the end of, but the Town striker couldn't direct his finish past Cameron Mason.

Midway through the first half Thewlis struck the woodwork as Warren Burrell's cross towards Beck fell into the path of Town's left winger whose first touch finish was tipped onto the bar and behind.

Weaver's side took the lead in the 24th minute as John McCombe carried the ball forward from the back before threading through Thewlis on the left who was able to stand a cross up to the far post for Knowles to head home.

Agnew almost made it two three minutes later as he hit Thewlis' lay off low towards the bottom corner, but was a fraction off target.

With eight minutes to go until half time, Tyrell McKenzie unleashed a ferocious shot from 30 yards that rattled the cross bar before bouncing clear.

After just 14 seconds of second half action, Knowles claimed his second of the afternoon beating the offside trap to latch on to Jack Emmett's through ball and curl past Mason.

Knowles claimed his hat-trick five minutes later after collecting Beck's knockdown, rounding Curzon's Captain and poking past the advancing 'keeper in style.

With the points all but secured for the home side, Curzon went close to pulling back a consolation goal as Will Beesley fizzed a shot across the face of goal.

Weaver used the three goal cushion as an opportunity to withdraw Kerry, who had been carded, and Burrell with Ryan Fallowfield and Jake Wright taking their place for the remaining half an hour.

Curzon did have the ball in the back of the net in the final ten minutes when Richard Baker capitalised on a mistake from McCombe and poked past Cracknell, only to be adjudged offside when the original free kick came in.

There was still time for Knowles to round off an excellent afternoon with a fourth goal as the Man of the Match converted from the spot after Wright had been brought down.

Knowles' fourth put Town on 99 league goals for the season, though with almost the last kick of the game the striker claimed his fifth of the day and Harrogate's 100th of the season as he converted Wright's cross.
