Town Appoint Community Development Manager

28 August 2018

We are delighted to announce Iain Service will be joining the club as Community Development Manager.

Iain joins Harrogate Town AFC with over 11 years experience working within the sports industry; starting his career with the Rugby Football League as a Coaching Officer, then a Regional Development Manager for South Yorkshire he will bring knowledge, skills and experience to the Community Department.

After spending two years as a Primary School teacher in Thailand, Iain returned to the UK to work at the University of Warwick as a Sports Engagement Officer, where he then linked up with Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council to manage a Sport England project, aiming to get communities more physically active.

Over the last 18 months Iain has worked for Harrogate Borough Council as a Development Officer for Sports and Projects and has been involved with Harrogate Town AFC in co-ordinating their ‘Get in To Town' National League Project that saw over 1500 pupils get active with HTAFC.

Iain's main role will be to develop and expand the Community Department, in particular the growth of the schools programme Premier League Primary Stars.

Other tasks include setting up the Community Foundation as a registered charity and building strong community links.

Iain's appointment is another sign of how far the club has come over the last few years, and we look forward to seeing our community work grow under his stewardship.

Iain joins Harrogate Town AFC following a successful funding application to the National League. We would like to thank the National League for their continued support.
