Halifax Preview

31 December 2018

In the opening fixture of 2019, Town travel to Halifax, desperate to take revenge on Boxing Day's 2-1 defeat at The CNG Stadium.

Highlights

Dayle Southwell's late winner saw Jamie Fullarton's side pick up a second National League win from their last 19 games, before following that up with an impressive 1-1 draw at Gateshead on Saturday.

Three goals, all in the final ten minutes, have seen Town suffer three consecutive league defeats, though Simon Weaver's side haven't lost four on the bounce since October 2016.

Town remain the National League's top scorers, while only Leyton Orient have found the back of the net more away from home, with a win potentially taking Town level on points with third placed Fylde.

A victory to open the New Year will be no easy task though, with our opponents having lost just one of their last six in all competitions, although Halifax go into the latest Yorkshire derby having won only two from eight in that time, keeping no clean sheets in the process.

A home victory in Tuesday's clash could lift Halifax three places in the table, though Fullarton's side have not won in their last three outings at The Shay.

Weaver will be hopeful of a repeat of the last time he took his side to Halifax as Jack Emmett scored the only goal of the game to take all three points back to Harrogate, in the season Halifax secured promotion from The National League North.

While The CNG Stadium has been the place to go for goals this season with 49 hitting the back of the net, Halifax supporters have witnessed just 21 league goals this season, a joint low with Solihull's Damson Park.

We look forward to seeing our travelling fans in West Yorkshire for what is sure to be another fiercely contested local derby.
