On Friday 7th December at The CNG Stadium, Town's Academy ran out 5-3 winners over North Yorkshire Soccer Academy with goals from James Wield (2), Alfie Lee (2) and Dylan Elliott.
The first half started very evenly with chances for both teams, but it was the opposition that took the lead.Credit to the Town players, going behind didn't put them off their stride and they soon equalised through a great finish from Wield.
At the other end, Liam Pinchen produced an excellent save to keep the scores level, allowing Town to enter half time ahead thanks to cool finish from Elliot.
The start of the second half saw Town on the back foot with the visitors scoring two quick fire goals to take the lead.
Town again came firing back and made it 3-3 with a headed goal from Lee.
Town soon retook the lead from a fantastic free quick by Wield, not long before Lee grabbed his second headed goal to make it 5-3.
Manager Ben Parker commented: “Overall it was a high quality game in which the boys showed great fighting spirit.”
