A hattrick from an unlikely source in Warren Burrell and a late strike from Jack Muldoon meant Town got back to winning ways, despite initially falling behind against Aldershot.
Town welcomed Aldershot to The CNG Stadium looking to bounce back after a disappointing defeat in the top of the table clash against Solihull Moors.
Despite being at the wrong end of the table it was Aldershot who started the livelier of the two sides with Gerry McDonagh's crosses causing problems for the Town defence in the opening stages.
The first chance came for Town in the tenth minute as Joe Leesley whipped in a cross towards Dom Knowles who was starting his first game since September, but he could only fire at Shots keeper Will Mannion.
It would be the visitors who broke the deadlock in the 14th minute through Adam McDonnell, Luke Wanadio was given time to have two attempts at a cross with his second effort finding McDonnell at the far post who drilled it home.
Town nearly replied instantly after kicking off, Leesley laid off George Thomson after a freekick, but the Shots stopper managed to beat away the effort.
In the 21st minute Aldershot nearly doubled their lead, after looking like a man inspired McDonagh broke through on the counter and tried to chip the Town stopper James Belshaw, who read the situation perfectly and lept high to palm the ball away.
Moments later Town midfielder Thomson forced another save from the Aldershot keeper, hitting a sweet freekick that had to be knocked away.
Town eventually found their equaliser and drew level through Burrell in the 32nd minute.
After a freekick from Leesley found Callum Howe at the back post, he headed it across to Knowles who scuffed his header only for Burrell to tap in from close range.
The next significant effort of the game fell town's way in the 41st minute, Captain Josh Falkingham picked out Thomson at the edge of the box who then drilled one in, but his effort flew just wide of the post.
With the rain seriously coming down Aldershot started the second half with a decent effort on goal, substitute Matt McClure broke through and had a strike on goal, but it went just wide of Belshaw's post.
Despite the terrible weather conditions, it was Town who took the lead nearly ten minutes into the second half.
Burrell picked up his second of the afternoon after getting onto the end of Leesley's corner and guiding his header into the back of the net.
The second goal really sprang town into action, In the 64th minute Jack Emmett went on an impressive mazy run at the Aldershot defence but failed to get a shot away and then shortly after some lovely passing play from Town allowed Falkingham to break through and pull the ball back to Muldoon who couldn't squeeze his effort into the inside of the post.
Despite the other players efforts on goal it was Burrell's day; he picked up his third goal of the game in the 70th minute after he got onto the end of Leesley's freekick and managed to guide his header past the Aldershot stopper.
As the weather dried up, so did the chances; in the 87th minute Aaron Williams broke through and cut onto his left but struggled to get it on target and didn't test the opposition keeper.
But Town's goal scoring wasn't over just yet, Muldoon produced a lovely finish in the box curling his effort into the top corner to finish off a good day's work at The CNG Stadium.
