Town U19s 7 Garforth U23s 0

3 December 2018

Harrogate Town U19s returned to the top of the WRCFA U23 League with a thumping win over Garforth Town.

Sam Barker netted an eight minute hat-trick in a first half where Sam Clark and Rob White also found the net, to put Josh Falkingham's side out of sight.

Barker's haul moved him to the top of the WRCFA U23 League top scorers table and the midfielder added another in the second half in the form of an exquisite chip, before Gus Steele rounded off the scoring in the 90th minute.

Town went close after five minutes as Sam Barker skipped past two and found Sam Clark, who was unlucky not to open the scoring with a low shot across goal that just missed the target.

A quarter of an hour later, Clark struck the bar from 20 yards, with Rob White following in to convert the rebound and put his side ahead.

It was two six minutes later as the impressive Barker struck low past the visiting goalkeeper from just outside the box.

Clark got in on the act two minutes later, curling into the bottom right corner with a precise right footed finish.

The goals ket on coming as Town got a fourth on the half hour mark as Barker was picked out on a run through the middle and slotted past the onrushing keeper.

Barker then completed his eight minute hat-trick with a diving header from White's right wing cross to make it five for Town and put him on top of the goalscoring pile in the WRCFA U23 League with eight for the season.

It was almost six before the break as Barker received the ball to feet and turning before hitting the woodwork as Town brought an end to a productive half.

Five minutes after the restart Barker lofted a ball over the Garforth defence to Richardson, but the winger poked past the post.

With 53 minutes gone, Barker produced the best goal of the night, receiving the ball from Soni Fergus and clipping over the goalkeeper from 25 yards.

With the hour mark fast aproaching, Kwame Boateng got forward and fed Clark, who struck the outside of the post with a powerful finish.

Despite not having the most enjoyable of evenings, Garforth's man between the sticks makes an incredible five saves in a row to deny Town a seventh, denying Barker, Richardson and Clark all within the space of a few seconds.

White went close in the final few minutes, but it was Gus Steele who rounded off the scoring, converting from close range seconds before the final whistle.
