The central defender brings experience to the Town dressing room having made over 300 appearances in his career, the majority coming for Port Vale.

McCombe was named Chester Captain at the beginning of the current campaign and has made 23 league appearances for the side currently 22nd in The National League.

Town's newest arrival started his career at Huddersfield Town, but has gone on to play for York City and Macclesfield in recent years.

On his newest recruit, Simon Weaver said: "He will bring height and presence that we have been needing badly in the 18-yard box, in both boxes really.

"The main thing is his defensive ability, he has a lot of nouse, a good positional sense and is a big presence on the pitch.

"He is going to be one of our most experienced players, we have a team of young lads so his experience can only be of help."
