Town's Under 21's won the battle of the league's top two on Monday night with a convincing 3-0 win over Tadcaster Albion.
Charlie Baird gave Josh Falkingham's side the lead after 26 minutes, capitalising on a defensive error and, although Taddy had chances to pull level, Andy Higgins towering header on the stroke of half time put Town in a commanding position at the break.
The visitors came flying out the traps for the second half and struck the woodwork, though Baird's 76th minute penalty was enough to see Town move 14 points clear at the top of the league.
Tadcaster started the brighter of the two, and went close on a few occasions inside the opening 20 minutes, though both Pugh and Chimalilo had efforts kept out.
Town's first chance came in the 25th minute as Max Landau's deep corner dropped to Baird, whose shot on the turn clipped the post and went behind.
Baird was unlucky not to be on the score sheet, but found the net a minute later capitalising on former Harrogate Railway Captain jason Mycoe's defensive error to lift over the taddy 'keeper.
The score should have been level six minutes before the break as Fraser Hansen found himself through on goal, but shot wide of the far corner.
Higgins made Tadcaster pay for missing their chance on the stroke of half time when he powered home a header off the cross bar from a deep free kick delivery.
Tadcaster came flying out the box at the start of the second half and struck the woodwork when Hansen's cross was flapped at by Liam Powell in the Town goal.
The trailing visitors were enjoying much more of the possession and chances in the second half, but still failed to break down the Town defence as Pugh missed a gilt edge header at the back post.
Despite their dominance it was Town who struck next and put the tie to bed as Landau's shot was blocked by an arm, allowing Baird to convert from the spot and seal an important three points.
