Horsforth 0 Town U17s 9

The U17's won their first game of 2018 with a brilliant 9-0 win away from home against Horsforth.



The opening 10 minutes was a bit scrappy with neither team managing to keep hold of the ball. Harrogate did come close however, with both Carl Robinson and Sam Clark hitting the wood work.

The deadlock was finally broken when Lucas Abusin's shot was parried into the path of Robinson who stabbed in from close range. 0-1

It was 2 shortly after when again Abusin found his shot blocked in front of goal. This time Clark was on hand to turn the ball in. 0-2

Harrogate was hitting their stride and creating chances. Sam Phoenix made it 3 after being put through by Olly Heselgrave, Phoenix rounded the keeper and scored in the open net. 0-3

Carl Robinson made it four when Gus Steele flicked on Phoenix's corner at the front post. Robinson met the ball well at the back to leave the keeper no chance. 0-4

Phoenix got his 2nd and Towns fifth on the stroke of half time when Heselgrave's ball forward was flicked on by Clark, into the path of Phoenix. His 25 yard shot caught the keeper off his line to give town a comfortable 5 goal lead at half time. 0-5

Harrogate came out on the front foot in the second half. Connor Weal started a move from right back with a driving run. After Henry Dolby, Robinson and Phoenix all linked well it was Weal that found himself unmarked in the box after a through ball from Clark, Weal finished calmly past the keeper. 0-6

Sam Clark had an uncharacteristic moment to forget in front of goal when he did brilliantly to go past the defender then the keeper. Clark put the ball wide with the goal gaping.

Keen to make up for the error. Clark added 2 goals in quick succession. First, Robinson's through ball put Clark 1 on 1 with the keeper. Clark slotted past the keeper to make it 7. Phoenix then turned provider when his through ball set Clark through again. Clark but the ball in the opposite corner to give Town their eighth. 0-8

Sam Phoenix capped a fine individual performance off when James Richardson set off down the wing. Richardson squared the ball to Phoenix unmarked who tapped in. 0-9.

Another impressive performance from the young town side where they've scored 34 goals in their last 3 games.
