Marcus Day's hat-trick helped Town U21's kick off thier 2018 with an emphatic win over Thackley on Monday night at The CNG Stadium.
Ben O'Hanlon demonstrated his quality early on, delivering a number of quality balls into the box that Baird and Day were close to converting.
Baird eventually got his goal after half an hour after debutant Nuno Pereira found Day on the right wing and able to pick out Baird who finished at the second attempt.
Town's first opened the floodgates as Marcus Day capitalised on a goalkeeping error four minutes later and tapped into an empty net.
Thackley had barely kicked off before Town grabbed a third goal as Lewis Riley's left wing cross was met by Baird for his second of the evening.
Town's fourth arrived three minutes before the interval, and was the pick of the bunch so far as Day curled into the top left corner from just inside the box.
Thackley had the last word of an action packed 45 minutes though, powering home their first of the evening from eight yards after a low pull back.
Day completed his hat-trick ten minutes after the restart, collecting a pass from Baird and expertly dinking over the onrushing 'keeper.
The striker almost claimed his fifth after a mis-kick from the visiting goakeeper, but couldn't quite find the angle to roll into an empty net.
Despite the result being beyond doubt, Thackley ended the evening on a high after a quick counter attack was crossed in from the right and converted to bring an entertaining encounter to a close.
