Town 3 Knaresborough 0

10 July 2018

Harrogate Town began pre-season with a win as Knaresborough Town were beaten 3-0 at The CNG Stadium.

In a match in which Town had a large amount of possession, Dom Knowles converted from close range on the stroke of half time before A Trialist finished off Jack Emmett's low cross in the 71st minute.

The pick of the goals was scored by another trialist in the 86th minute; glancing home Jack Muldoon's left wing cross.

New signings Callum Howe and Aaron Williams were named in the starting line-up, while there was space in the line-up for two trialists who had been training with the club.

The first chance of the evening fell to Williams as Jordan Thewlis got to the byline and centred, but the striker's prod towards goal was scrambled away by Liam Corbett.

Thewlis was next to work the visiting 'keeper as he tried to curl into the bottom right corner, but Corbett was equal to the effort.

Strike partners Dom Knowles and Williams both went close to breaking the deadlock, but both Knowles' free kick and Williams' headed finish were wide of the mark.

Knaresborough's first shot arrived in the 39th minute, though never looked like troubling Belshaw.

After his flick on had almost resulted in Williams breaking the deadlock, Knowles finished from close range from the resulting corner to give Town the lead on the stroke of half time.

Simon Weaver opted for wholesale changes at the break with Kelvin Langmead and Jack Muldoon among nine changes.

Ben Parker almost got himself on the scoresheet just before the hour mark as he connected with George Thomson's lofted ball to the back post, but could only volley into the side netting.

Five minutes later Muldoon went close, but could only head Thomson's deep cross over the bar.

Town's second of the evening arrived in the 71st minute as Jack Emmett weaved his was to the byline and pulled back for A Trialist to tap in from close range.

With four minutes to go another trialist got on the score sheet, glancing home Muldoon's left wing cross.
