FC United of Manchester Preview

7 March 2018

This Saturday sees Town return to action for the first time in 18 days as FC United of Manchester visit The CNG Stadium.

Simon Weaver's side go into the game having won their last five league matches and go unbeaten in their last ten National League North games at home, though the last meeting with The Red Rebels didn't quite go to plan.

With FCUM just one place above the drop zone, Tom Greaves was handed the vacant Manager's job at Broadhurst Park back in October, and was quick to guide his side to a 3-2 win over Harrogate.

Greaves' side's encouraging early form has slowed down of late though, with FC United winning just one of their last seven league fixtures and sitting only one place better off than before the sides last met.

A win on Saturday could take The Red Rebels above as many as five teams, but to do so Greaves' men would need to improve on away form that has yielded the least points of all sides in the division and just one win all season; at York City in August.

While Town remain the division's top scorers, finding the net has been a problem for Saturday's visitors who have not scored in their last four league games.

Recent history suggests this fixture produces goals though, with Town having scored at least twice in each of the last seven meetings.

Saturday could see Town midfielder George Thomson feature against the club he managed 32 goals for in just 18 months, while new signing Jake Wright will be hoping to be involved for the first time since re-joining the club.

Please note Saturday's fixture will be segregated, arrangements for which can be found below…
