U21s | Tadcaster Albion 0 Town 2

22 May 2018

Harrogate Town's Under 21's were crowned West Riding U21 Floodlit League Champions for the second year running following a 2-0 win at title challengers Tadcaster Albion.

Josh Falkingham's side needed a win or a draw to secure the league, while a defeat would have left the title in the hands of The Brewers.

Charlie Baird looked lively early on at York Sports Village, testing the Taddy goalkeeper with an early strike.

Sam Clark had an attempt saved shortly after, before the deadlock was broken on the 20 minute mark as Gus Steele glanced Max Landau's free kick into the bottom corner.

The hosts responded immidetiely, forcing a save from Liam Powell before heading a good chance over from eight yards.

Ten minutes before the break the hosts had another chance to equalise, but The Brewers' number nine couldn't guide his finish into the bottom corner.

Tadcaster continued to create chances in the second 45, but found Powell in top form to tip an attempt round the post and claim the resulting corner.

Despite the hosts' pressure it was Town who struck next as Prince Attakorah raced past his man and delivered a teasing low cross to the back post, that Jake Heatley was able to turn into the net.

Attakorah almost repeated the trick with five minutes to play, though his low ball was this time intercepted.

Falkingham's side were presented with the trophy at full time to round off an impressive season with some silverware.

Harrogate Town: Powell, Steele, Pereira, Barker, Higgins, Brettel, Attakorah, Landau, Baird, Clark, Heatley
