Town travel to Salford City on Tuesday night as last year's two National League North promotion winners lock horns at the top-tier of non-league football for the first time.
The sides have met six times over the past two seasons, three of which have ended all square, though Salford have ran out 2-1 winners on the last two occasions.
The Ammies will be taking on Town for the first time under former Scotland International Graham Alexander who took the reins at Moor Lane at the beginning of the season and has so far guided his side to second place.
The two have certainly found their feet at National League level, scoring a combined 82 league goals between them, though in the last 13 games combined in all competitions the sides have just three wins in total.
For the second match in a row, Salford are taking on a team placed fourth in The National League, with Town's win against Braintree seeing them overlap Solihull Moors, who played out a goalless draw with Alexander's side on Saturday.
Town do have a game in hand on their title rivals and can go level on points with Salford should they win at Moor Lane, something last achieved in December 2016.
Much of The Ammies' success this season has been down to impressive home form, bettered only by AFC Fylde, with Alexander's side yet to lose a league game at Moor Lane, winning seven from 10.
Town have been impressive on their travels though, suffering just one away league defeat all season – in their last fixture away from The CNG Stadium against Dagenham and Redbridge.
