Dagenham and Redbridge Preview

25 October 2018

Town return to National League action on Saturday with a first ever trip to Dagenham and Redbridge.

Former England boss Peter Taylor took over at the start of the season with a wealth of experience including spells at Leicester City and Crystal Palace, in a management career that has so far yielded five promotions.

The Daggers find themselves battling at the other end of the table though and currently sit 22nd in their third season back in The National League, following a nine-year spell in the Football League.

Taylor's side will be looking to new addition Angelo Balanta for inspiration on Saturday having captured the winger from Boreham Wood, though were eliminated from the FA Cup by Balanta's former employers in Tuesday night's replay.

Saturday's hosts go into the content on the back of five straight league defeats, three of which came at Victoria Road where Dagenham have just one win in eight.

Town, meanwhile, will be desperate to bounce back from Tuesday night's FA Cup exit at Wrexham; Simon Weaver's side's first loss away from home of the season.

The defeat followed four straight wins on the road, while a fifth on Saturday could see Town return to the top of the table which they currently trail by a point.

In terms of team news, no team has found the back of the net more than Town this season, though Dom Knowles, who has five strikes to his name, continues to recover from a toe injury.
