Ebbsfleet 0 Town 2

6 October 2018

Harrogate Town continued their fine form away from home with a 2-0 win at Ebbsfleet in difficult conditions.

Town took the lead after half an hour through Callum Howe's back post header as the centre back claimed his fifth of the season from Joe Leesley's corner.

The result was sealed in the 72nd minute as Aaron Williams collected George Thomson's through ball and powered past Nathan Ashmore.

Simon Weaver made one change from last weekend's win over Boreham Wood as Jack Emmett returned to the starting line-up for the first time since August, while Jordan Thewlis returned to the bench having recovered from an injury suffered in pre-season.

The first chance came through an error as Nathan Ashmore's clearance fell to George Thomson, but the Ebbsfleet 'keeper was able to recover in time to deny the winger's effort.

With conditions difficult to say the least, chances were few and far between in the early exchanges, though Town were able to take the lead in typical fashion half an hour in.

After Thomson's shot had deflected behind for a corner, Joe Leesley's delivery was headed in by Howe at the back post.

Ebbsfleet's chance to pull level came seven minutes before the break as Chris Bush's cross was met at the back post by Myles Weston, but volleyed over the bar.

It was Town who would strike next as Williams collected Thomson's through ball and powered past Nathan Ashmore.

Ebbsfleet were limited to long range shots in the closing stages, none of which troubled James Belshaw who was able to claim his seventh clean sheet of the season.
