An early strike from Tom Champion was enough for Town to fall to defeat against Boreham Wood at The CNG Stadium.
Despite Callum Howe, Jack Muldoon and Aaron Williams all going close, Town failed to find the back of the net.The victory for Boreham Wood guaranteed safety and leaves Town still looking for more victories to confirm their Play-Off place with three fixtures to go.
Having claimed victory at Havant and Waterlooville last weekend, Simon Weaver made only one change to the starting eleven, bringing in Liam Agnew for the injured Lloyd Kerry.
The opening goal arrived in the ninth minute when Boreham Wood won a corner and reaped the rewards with a goal straight off the training ground.
The corner was taken short to Kieran Murtagh who swung in a cross towards Tom Champion in the box, whose header flew past James Belshaw, denying the Harrogate Town number one a clean sheet on his 100th appearance for the club.
The Wood looked like a well organised outfit, marking man for man in the opening stages and giving Town very little space to play the ball on the ground.
In the 25th minute, Town had a great chance to equalise after a clever Liam Agnew pass released top scorer Muldoon, but he could only find the side netting after shooting from a tight angle.
Weaver's side looked brighter as the game went on and in the 31st minute Joe Leesley's freekick was perfectly weighted to pick out Howe at the far post, who then headed across goal into a sea of bodies ricocheting into the path of Warren Burrell, but his finish was too high to test the visiting keeper Ryan Huddart.
Three minutes before the break, Town were inches away from an equaliser, with their first shot on target.
Leesley picked out Howe from a corner who headed at goal, but he couldn't squeeze his effort past the stretching Huddart who flicked the effort over the bar.
In the second half it was Luke Garrard's side who started off the brighter of the two as Shaibu broke free between two Town defenders before seeing his shot stopped by a Kelvin Langmead block.
Town began to grow into the game just after the hour mark, Leesley tested the visiting keeper Huddart but he managed to tip his effort over the bar; Howe got onto the end of the resulting corner but couldn't steer his header into the back of the net.
In the 58th minute Town were inches away from levelling the score, following prolonged a period of pressure when substitute Jordan Thewlis pulled the ball back to Liam Kitching who would have a strike at goal, but Huddart managed to gather the effort.
With eight minutes to play, Burrell played a brilliant pass to release Muldoon who then whipped a ball across the box, but it was cleared away by the goal scorer Champion with Mark Beck waiting close behind.
In the 89th minute substitute Aaron Williams nearly levelled things up after a goalmouth scramble, but his effort was blocked on the line.
With what was almost the last kick, Bradley Ash was released one on one with Belshaw after a deflection went his way, but the forward took more touches then necessary and Belshaw stuck a foot in to clear the ball.
There was still time for Boreham Wood to hit the frame of the goal, though it would irrelevant as Referee David Richardson sounded his whistle and brought an end to a disappointing afternoon.
