Having spent time at Saturday's opponents early last season, we sat down with George Smith to take a look back at his time at Dover…
Since arriving in the Summer, the full back started the first five Town matches this season, forming part of a new look back line with fellow new arrivals Connor Hall and Will Smith.
“They offered me the chance to go and play games and I was told the Gaffer Chris Kinnear really wanted me so at the time it was an easy choice to make." Smith said of his move to Dover.
"I played the first ten or so games and, while the results weren't what we wanted them to be, from a personal point of view I thought I did well.
“When Andy Hessenthaler came in for whatever reason I wasn't in his plans, I don't know what the reason was, so I went back up to Chesterfield in November.
“My time at Dover was good for the first couple of months then obviously not so good after that, but I take it with a pinch of salt, that's football sometimes things work out and sometimes they don't.
“They have changed a lot, there aren't many still there from when I was there, most of them I was close with and had good relationships with, but a lot of them have left now.
“From my point of view I feel I never really got a chance under the new Manager, in the first couple of days he brought someone in to play in my position without really looking at me, so I would say I have a point to prove today.
“Of course it is a source of satisfaction to myself to prove people wrong that have doubted me in the past, I have done it before in my career so I want to do it again when we play Dover.”
