After relegation from the Football League in 2018/19 for the first time in their history, the oldest professional football club in the world, Notts County, visit The CNG Stadium on Tuesday night, looking for their first three points at National League level.

A point against Stockport sandwiched between a defeat against Barnet and opening loss at Eastleigh sees The Magpies sit 23^rd, the same position Neal Ardley's side finished League Two last season.



County, who competed in League One alongside now Premier League Sheffield United just five years ago, have won just one of their last nine competitive fixtures ahead of their first meeting with Town.

Former Wimbledon Boss Ardley's side finished the 2018/19 season having conceded a league high 84 league goals and claimed just four wins from 23 away from home, though have undergone a Summer of change in an effort to turn their fortunes around.

No fewer than 11 signings have arrived at Meadow Lane this Summer, most recently Regan Booty, who spent the 2018/19 season at Aldershot, and Wes Thomas, a replacement for Dundee FC bound Kane Hemmings; with both poised to make their debuts on Tuesday night.

Joining Hemmings in leaving the club is one of Town's Summer acquisitions Jon Stead, who departs after four seasons and over 150 appearances for The Magpies.

While Stead could play a part, Simon Weaver will be without Lloyd Kerry who suffered an ankle injury at Woking, with Jack Emmett and Scott Brown vying for the injured midfielder's place in the side.

For the visitors, Damien McCrory and Captain Michael Doyle will both serve the final game of their three-match suspension.

A reminder that Tuesday night's fixture will be segregated with home supporters entering through the North gate and, while home seated tickets are sold out, standing tickets will be available to purchase on the gate.
